The ties that bind

27 Mar

Recently, one of my childhood friends suddenly passed away.  He left behind a wife, two young children as well as a host of devastated friends and family.  While I struggled with my own shock and sadness, I began to think about how painful and raw loss is.  It is so final!  I wondered…where do we put our love, our feelings and our memories when someone dies?  Do they vanish just like our loved ones?

What happens to all of the physical things that once connected us to the loved ones we’ve lost?  What do we do with their phone numbers, home addresses and the messages we’ve saved?  Are we supposed to delete them?

I can still recite my grandparents home phone number and address to this day and it has been more than 20 years since they passed away.  Another very dear friend of mine died of brain cancer eight and a half years ago.  I can’t seem to delete all of her numbers from my phone, it’s still so hard to let go.  I feel like if I delete them, I am somehow losing part of her all over again.

~A million words will never bring you back…Nor will the million tears I have cried.  I know, cause I’ve tried. ~

Grief is so personal and each of us handles it differently.  For some, it’s easier to box up their loved ones things and put them away because the pain is just too difficult to bear.  For others, holding on to the personal items helps them stay connected ~ another way to show how much they care.  There is no right or wrong way to cope with your grief.  It takes time ~ it is never brief.  How you chose to deal is a personal choice, do what works best to help you heal.

Be brave.  Know that the love you feel does not stop at the grave.  Create a special place in your heart to store all your love, that even death can never tear apart.  Feel their presence with your every breath ~ knowing there is never distance not even in death.  We may let go of the physical things, but the precious memories we hold so dear, will bring us comfort for years.

Remembrance of loved ones lost, will never be far from our minds.  For they are stored in our special place and will forever be the ties that bind.

You really make it appear so easy with your presentation but I in finding this matter to be really something which I believe I would by no means understand. It kind of feels too complicated and very extensive for me. I’m looking forward to your next put up, I will try to get the grasp of it!

Have you given any thought at all with converting your current web-site into French? I know a couple of translaters here that would help you do it for no cost if you want to get in touch with me.
